In the 1920s, an imaginary archaeological expedition was organized in search of the Elephas Falconeri, a dwarf elephant; a very real creature - whose fossilized skulls, found in underwater caverns on the side of a volcano in Sicily, strangely resemble those of the legendary Cyclopes.
